We are going to need more wine to properly celebrate our 40th Vassar Reunion! Fortunately, we shall. Join your classmates during a Saturday night wine tasting event.

Your wine master (sommelier for purists) is Malek Amrani, proprietor of The Vice Wine of Napa Valley!

This bicoastal happy hour will be one for the ages. While tasting is not required to join in the fun, Malek has curated a commemorative wine package for us and your shipment of 2-half bottles of Napa Valley Pinot Noir will be a special fixed price of approximately $50.00. Place your wine package order now!

Cocktail reception
Get dressed up and bring your favorite beverage as we toast our 35th reunion! This will be the reunion to attend, as we travel across time zones to reconnect in a way few of us imagined after we moved our tassels and tossed our mortar boards in the air. We'll have a fun evening of meeting friends old and new, sipping and chatting away in a series of Zoom breakout rooms. Maybe you'll be cruising through a virtual College Center to see who you bump in to, or maybe you'll revisit the common room in your dorm and reconnect with your housemates – or maybe both!

Saturday 6/12

7:00pm
Experts Panel (President Bradley stops by at 7pm!)
We are fortunate to have so many classmates doing interesting and important things in the world. Please join us Saturday evening to hear what our very own classmate experts have to say about their industry, area of expertise or a specific topic—details to follow. President Bradley may even stop in to say hello at the beginning.

Sunday 6/13

Brunch
What would Reunion Weekend be without a slightly hungover, or at least very tired from dancing all night, brunch in ACDC? Let's recreate that experience virtually, and get back together one last time this weekend for a group brunch on Sunday. To make it feel even more like we are all together, we plan on making a “brunch in a box” available for purchase and delivery, so we can even enjoy eating the same food together, like in the before times…stay tuned for details on the “brunch in a box”.

How to Taste Wine Like a Pro
In this session, Class of 2006 alum Adam Knoerzer will give you a crash course on how sommeliers and wine professionals taste wine. You’ll learn about what a wine’s color can tell you, as well as what to look for when you swirl, sniff, and sip. You’ll learn the tricks of the trade to see just how we, as wine professionals, pick out things like acidity and alcohol in the wine, as well as how we can determine things like age, grape variety, and origin.

Because the lesson applies to any and all styles of wine, whatever you have on hand will work for the session. If you’d like to taste the same wine as Adam from home, he’ll be enjoying Red Newt Cellars Dry Riesling 2017 from New York’s very own Finger Lakes. If that’s unavailable in your local area, try to find another dry Riesling from the region—but no worries, even if you don’t feel like partaking, you’ll still learn a lot!

Adam Knoerzer is a wine educator, writer, and consultant based in Pittsburgh, PA, where he founded his company, ‘Burghundy LLC. Since mid-March of 2020, he’s shifted his classroom online where he teaches consumer wine classes several times weekly and hosts private and corporate virtual wine classes. Adam is a WSET Diploma candidate and a Certified Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers. He is also the reigning United States champion in the triennial Wines of South Africa Sommelier Cup. His writing has appeared in Wine Folly & local publications, including Table Magazine.
