Convocation Welcomes Students

AAVC Bestows Young Alumnae/i Achievement Award

Convocation, which convened virtually on September 2, contained many high points that are accessible to the entire Vassar community without the capacity limits of our beloved 1904 chapel. Watch it here!

Dean Alamo and President Bradley officially rang the bell for the beginning of the school year—calling together all campus constituents—with special welcomes for the classes of 2024 and 2021.

Honoree Olaf Carlson-Wee '12

The AAVC had the honor of bestowing the AAVC Young Alumnae/i Achievement Award on Olaf Carlson-Wee, Class of 2012 (shown). Carlson-Wee was recognized for his contributions to, if not creation of, the digital assets phenomena of cryptocurrency and blockchain. Beginning with a senior thesis in 2012 and then building a cryptocurrency hedge fund to over $1 billion in managed assets after just two years, Carlson-Wee has earned his labels by Fortune magazine as both “a true crypto OG” and “Crypto’s Crown Prince.” The AAVC Alum Recognition Committee called Carlson-Wee’s contribution to the field “brilliant.” Carlson-Wee epitomizes the Vassar legacy of envisioning what doesn’t exist, and then creating it.

Please join the AAVC in congratulating Carlson-Wee for winning the AAVC’s 2020 Young Alum Achievement Award!
