Men’s Track and Field

Ayden Gann ’21

Ayden Gann ’21 finished 11th overall in the 800-meter run at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships May 24 in Geneva, OH. Gann, who was seeded 18th, posted a time of 1:52.8.

Jack Casalino ’22 finished fifth overall in the 5,000-meter run at the NCAA All-Atlantic Region Championships May 15 and 16 in Cortland, NY.  Gann was sixth in the 800-meter run.

Gann broke his own school record in the 800-meter run May 9 at the West Point Twilight Meet on the campus of the United States Military Academy. Gann posted a time of 1:52.15.

Gann won the 800-meter run at the Liberty League Championships May 3 in Troy, NY. Gann posted a time of 1:52.8, nearly a second ahead of his nearest competitor. The 4x100 relay team of Jonah Goldenbird ‘21, Laurence Barr-Forget ‘22, Ryan Mazurkiewicz ’22 and Dean Kopisky ‘22 placed sixth. Gann, Ry Blume ‘20, Gawain Semiear ‘22, and Gibran-Marc Mourani ‘22 earned a sixth-place finish in the 4x400 relay. Vassar finished sixth overall.

Men’s Lacrosse

Matthew Lowery ’21 was named an Honorable Mention All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. Lowery, a First Team Liberty League all-star, broke his own single season record for faceoff wins with 193 in 286 attempts.

Women’s Track and Field

Sarah Gillooly ‘22

The 4x800 relay team finished fifth overall at the NCAA All-Atlantic Region Championships May 16 in Cortland, NY. Members of the team were Elise Matera ‘19, Sarah Gillooly ‘22, Christiana Prater-Lee ’19 and Sarah Newman ’21. Matera finished 10th in the 1,500-meter run.

Claire Zicki ‘22 finished third in the 400-meter run at the West Point Twilight Meet May 9 at the U.S. Military Academy. Zicki was clocked at 1:05.25. Sabrina Stacks ’21 was sixth in the javelin throw with a personal best of 27.33 meters.

Kate Lawson ‘19, Megan Horn ’19 and Hannah Martin ‘21 finished sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively in the 10,000-meter run at the Liberty League Championships May 3 in Troy NY. The 4x100 relay team of Zicki, Stacks, Sophie Sharp ‘19 and Michelle Perri ‘19 finished fifth overall. The team finished sixth.

Women’s Tennis

Morgane Flournoy ‘19

Undefeated Skidmore defeated Vassar, 5-1, in the finals of the Liberty League Tournament May 5 in Ithaca NY. The doubles team of Morgane Flournoy ‘19 and Ashley Fair ‘20 posted the Brewers’ only win, 8-5. The Brewers reached the finals with a 6-0 win over William Smith College May 4. Frances Cornwall ’21 lost just one game at No. 1 singles and teamed with Tara Edwards ’20 to win the No. 1 doubles match, 8-2.

Men’s Tennis

David Gandham ‘21

Vassar lost its opening match at the Liberty League Championships in Ithaca NY on May 3, falling to Ithaca College, 5-3. Adam Krueger ‘21 and David Gandham ‘21 won their doubles match, and Krueger posted a singles win.

Women’s golf

Vassar finished third, its best showing since 2015, in the Liberty League Championships May 3 and 4 in Schenectady NY. Hella Zhou ’22 was fourth overall with a 36-hole score of 161. Margaret Liu ‘21 finished 13th.

The Varsity Eight won the Division III championship at the Dad Vail Regatta May 11 in Philadelphia. The team posted a time of 6:43.84. Members of the team were Julia Blass '19, Aidan Antonienko '21, Colette Cambey '20, Katie Emery '19, Lauren Osojnak '19, Mary McKenney '21, Olivia Hodel '19, Parker Marks '20 and Coxswain Elle McKenzie '20.

Vassar’s Junior Varsity Eight finished fifth in an eight-boat field at the New York State Collegiate Rowing Championships on Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs, NY. The Varsity Eight was third in a three-boat field in its preliminary heat.

Vassar was the lone Division II competitor at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia May 11, posting a time of 6:14.49 in the finals against Division I opponents.

Vassar finished second in Varsity 8 competition at the New York State Rowing Championships May 3 in Saratoga Springs, NY. The Brewers were fourth in Open 4.
