On Campus – July 2013 Preview

Friday, July 12

Micah Sieber’s Couture, 2013, part of the Flip Side exhibition at the Palmer Gallery.

The Flip Side features the calligraphy, blown glass, cut paper, and digital and analog photography creations of a diverse set of members of the Vassar community. The exhibit is in the James W. Palmer III Gallery, College Center, and runs through September 4.

Bright Star, a musical created by Steve Martin and co-written by Edie Brickell, begins at the Vogelstein Center for Drama and Film, as part of the Powerhouse Theater’s 29th  season, and runs through July 14.

The Powerhouse Theater presents Found, the year’s first Inside Look production, in the Susan Stein Shiva Theater. The musical comedy runs through July 14.

The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center presents Pictures of Nothing: Abstract Art from the Permanent Collection, which will be on exhibit through September 8 in the art center’s temporary gallery.

The Powerhouse Theater Apprentice Company presents Blood Wedding by Federico García Lorca, through July 15, at 6:30pm on the Vassar Farm and Ecological Preserve. Read more about the apprentices.

Wednesday, July 17

The Powerhouse Theater season continues with When the Lights Went Out, by Mozhan Marnò and directed by Kate Whoriskey, which runs through July 28.

Thursday, July 18

Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center curator Mary-Kay Lombino will lead an informal gallery talk and walk-through of the center’s Pictures of Nothing exhibition at 4:30pm.

Award-winning actress Linda Lavin appears in James Lecesne’s Mother of Invention, directed by Michael Wilson.

Friday, July 19

The Powerhouse Theater hosts its second Inside Look production, Mother of Invention, a comedy in the Susan Stein Shiva Theater that runs through July 21.

The Powerhouse Theater Apprentice Company presents William Shakespeare’s As You Like It, through July 22, at 6:30pm on the Vassar Farm and Ecological Preserve.

Friday, July 26

The Powerhouse Theater presents its second Martel Musical, A Musical Inspired by the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Company, which runs through July 28.
