Cappella Festiva Choir

Saturday, May 11

The Cappella Festiva Choirs will have their spring concert in the Chapel at 4:00pm. The concert will feature Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms.

Monday, May 13

At 5:00pm in Taylor Hall 203, 10 Vassar students will celebrate the launch of their new collection of poems with a poetry reading. Sponsored by the English Department.

Thursday, May 16

At 4:00pm in the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center, James Mundy will give a gallery talk about a selection of works that entered the collection during his tenure as Director of the Art Center. Followed by extended gallery hours from 5:00 to 9:00pm as part of the weekly event “Late Night at the Lehman Loeb.”

Saturday, May 25

At 10:30am in the Chapel, Vassar will hold its pre-Commencement Awarding of Prizes ceremony.

At 1:00pm on the second floor of the Gordon Commons, the Asian Pacific Alumnae/i of Vassar College (APAVC) will celebrate with Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander seniors and their families. They will present seniors with red satin stoles.

At 1:30pm in the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center Sculpture Garden, the Vassar a cappella groups will give their final performance of the year before graduation.

At 1:45pm in the Villard Room, the African American Alumnae/i (AAAVC) will celebrate with seniors and their families and bestow seniors with kente cloths at the 30th annual Kente Cloth Ceremony.

At 4:00pm in the Chapel there will be the Baccalaureate ceremony, led by the Council of ALANA Seniors. This event is open to the Vassar Community.

Sunday, May 26

This year, Commencement takes place May 26th.

The 155th Commencement Ceremony will take place in the outdoor amphitheater at 10:00am. The Commencement address will be delivered by social entrepreneur, author, CNN host, and political commentator Van Jones. Seating is first come, first served, and tickets are not required. The event will be livestreamed at beginning at 9:30am.

A reception in honor of the Class of 2019 and their families will be held on the Chapel lawn immediately following Commencement.

Thursday, May 30

At 8:30am in the Aula in Ely Hall the Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse and the Vassar SAVP Office will hold their annual breakfast. The event will include a forum on issues of consent and systemic response in the community, featuring speakers Kelly Blunt and Dr. Karen Rich.

From 5:00 to 9:00pm the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center will have extended gallery hours as part of their weekly event “Late Night at the Lehman Loeb.”

Saturday, June 1

At 10:00am and 1:00pm there will be free public walking tours of the Vassar College campus, led by Associate Professor of History Leslie Offutt.
