Monday, January 11

Teen Visions '16 exhibition artwork by Anthony Kim

The Teen Visions ’16 exhibition will be on display in the James W. Palmer III Gallery, College Center, through January 26. The exhibition features the work of students from the Art Institute of Mill Street Loft. An artists’ reception will take place from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, January 14 at the gallery.

The men’s and women’s basketball teams will play Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the Athletics and Fitness Center Gymnasium. The women’s game will begin at 6 pm, followed by the men’s game at 8 pm.

Friday, January 15

The men’s and women’s basketball teams will play Skidmore College in the Athletics and Fitness Center Gymnasium. The women’s game will begin at 6 pm, followed by the men’s game at 8 pm.

Saturday, January 16

The men’s and women’s basketball teams will play Union College in the Athletics and Fitness Center Gymnasium. The women’s game will begin at 2 pm, followed by the men’s game at 4 pm.

Saturday, January 23

The men’s and women’s squash teams will play Connecticut College and Haverford College at 11 am at the Kenyon Hall Squash Courts.

Thursday, January 28

The Modfest 2016 presentation “Teen Music, Dance, and the Spoken Word” will begin at 6:30 pm in the Villard Room, College Center.

The Sitomer Lecture will feature speaker Aomar Boum, assistant professor of anthropology at UCLA. The lecture, sponsored by the Jewish Studies Department, will begin at 5 pm in the Taylor Hall 203 Auditorium.

The exhibition Notes in Passing will be on display in the James W. Palmer III Gallery, College Center. The exhibition will feature the work of photographer Julie Mihaly. A reception for the artist will take place from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, February 4.

Friday, January 29

Composer Robinson McClellan ’99 will discuss his work, collaborating with young composers at the Kaufman Music Center, his online theory course at Rutgers University, and the online music notation program Noteflight (for which he is a consultant) at a Modfest 2016-sponsored event held at 4:30 pm in the Music Library Listening Classroom, Skinner Hall.

The Vassar Jazz Combos will perform at 9 pm in the Villard Room, College Center.

The men’s and women’s basketball teams will play Clarkson University in the Athletics and Fitness Center Gymnasium. The women’s game will begin at 6 pm, followed by the men’s game at 8 pm.

Saturday, January 30

A Modfest 2016 concert, “Music by Vassar Composers - Plus,” will begin at 8 pm at the Mary Anna Fox Martel Recital Hall, Skinner Hall. The concert will feature works by Susan Botti, Richard Wilson, and Igor Stavinsky, as well as David Alpher, Yehudi Wyner, Bernard Rands, and Claude Debussy. Performers include singers Lucy Shelton and Eric Brenner ’92 and pianists Gregg Michalak and Todd Crow.

The annual alumnae/i basketball games will be played in the Athletics and Fitness Center Gymnasium. The women’s game will begin at 9:30 am, followed by the men’s game at 11 am.

The men’s and women’s squash teams will play the Hudson Valley team at the Kenyon Hall Squash Courts at 10 am. The men’s volleyball team will have a tri-match with Ramapo College of New Jersey and Springfield College at 11 am in the Kenyon Hall Gymnasium. The men’s and women’s swimming teams will host the Sprint Invite at 11:45 am at Kresge Pool, Walker Field House. The men’s and women’s basketball teams will play St. Lawrence University in the Athletics and Fitness Center Gymnasium. The women’s game will begin at 2 pm, followed by the men’s game at 4 pm.

Sunday, January 31

The Modfest 2016 concert “Vassar Percussion Ensemble Debut” will begin at 3 pm at the Mary Anna Fox Martel Recital Hall, Skinner Hall. The event will feature faculty members Frank Cassara and Trey Files, as well as Lauren Workman ’17, Robert Nikolai ’19, and Ilan Korman ’19.
