On this exciting ten-day program you will have the opportunity to traverse the breadth of Cuba, from Havana to Santiago de Cuba, with three nights in Havana and six nights on board the three-masted sailing ship, M.Y. Le Ponant. Tour Old Havana, Cienfuegos, Trinidad, and the Vinales Valley as you interact with local experts and immerse yourself in Cuba's history, culture, and daily life.

Dresden & Berlin

In the seven decades since World War II, Dresden and Berlin have risen from the ashes of their near-destruction by Allied bombing campaigns.  Explore the past and present of these cosmopolitan cities on a privileged program led by Vassar's Maria Hoehn, a German-born scholar who specializes in U.S.-German relations.  In Dresden, view rebuilt architectural treasures, see the ongoing restoration of the Green Vault, and attend a performance at the Semper Opera House.  We will study the history of the Bauhaus School in Dessau, then continue to Berlin to admire the restored Reichstag (and dine in its rooftop restaurant); tour the Sammlung Boros, a renowned private art collection housed in a former World War II bunker; and discover Jewish Berlin.  We will conclude with a morning exploring the delightful palaces of Potsdam.

Boasting of 8 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Sri Lanka, an island nation off the southern tip of India is a tapestry of cultures. Saffron-robed monks traversing across courtyards, stark white temples, Hindu priests chanting beneath rainbow-colored towers, Colonial European architecture, lush green tea estates in the hill country, rice paddies, beaches, ancient ruins. Smell and taste the cacophony of spiced curries, incense and temple flowers. Listen for the call of a monkey, the song of a bird, and schoolyards full of children scampering towards sari-clad mothers. Get pampered with an Ayurvedic massage, warming the muscles.
